SPECIAL EDUCATION REMOTE SUPPORT PROGRAM

THIS IS A COMMUNITY-BASED AFTER-SCHOOL THERAPEUTIC SUPPORT & LIFE SKILLS HYBRID PROGRAM (the therapeutic component is swimming utilized for emotional dysregulation; there is plenty of medical research stating this helps reset the brain): which helps children/youth engage more positively in school, therapy, and at home. Life skills should be included in every child/youth treatment plan goal for children and youth with any of the 3 diagnoses listed below. This is not a 1:1 program, although the child/youth will have that 1:1 at times. This is a small group program with max participants 6 per group.

In-Direct Services include attending PPT and IEP meetings, treatment plan meetings, and collaborating with psychiatrists, school psychologists, special education teachers, special education advocates, attorneys, therapists, and case managers. In-Direct Services support therapeutic goals and educational goals.

The child/youth must have 3 or more diagnoses and 1 of these diagnoses must be ASD, intellectual disability, or ADHD. The child has to already be involved in special education at school or in the process of getting evaluated for these services.

Direct Services include transportation, life skills teaching, activities working on 21 domains, and swimming. Some families may qualify for a free or low-cost hospital of Special Care Aquatic Center Membership for 6 months.
The membership fee is not covered by Reach To Be.

REVISED SCHEDULE As of 01/09/2023
Transportation 2:30-3:30 pm pick-up times (depends on school schedule)
Activities 3:30-5:30 pm; sometimes 6 pm
5:30-6:00 Wrapping It Up!
Drop Off Times 5:30-7:00 pm (depends on where the child or youth resides)
7.5 hours a week Therapeutic Support
7.5 hours a week Life Skills
5-6 hours a week for transportation (depends on where child/youth lives)
1-2 hours a week for Indirect Services that can be provided remotely via phone, text, email, and Zoom.

Due to positive outcomes (swimming, unless the pool is closed, will be a part of everyday activities. Currently, we are working on money management, building positive relationships, conflict resolution, and problem-solving), the program is not available on holidays or on observed holiday days. It is only available Monday – Friday. We do offer the program even while children or youth are on break since it helps them consistently work on their goals. It is offered even in the summertime, although the time in the summertime is different, and the program starts earlier. Families will be notified by March of the change of times since we like to accommodate children and youth already in the program.

The weekly fee is $800 per week. This rate is not pro-rated if a child/youth misses a day since the fee covers indirect services as well. The child should attend at least 70% of the direct services time in order to stay in the program. We do understand that they have medical and therapy appointments, which we also support since it helps them with their treatment plan goals.
